CRAFTSWOMAN

My Grannie was a Luton milliner, and some of my earliest memories are of sitting with her in the back room whilst she sewed hats.  My job (aged three and a half) was to carefully pick apart die-stamped blocks of silk flowers ready for her to use.  I was fascinated by the leftover scraps of satin velvet and paisley, and made castles from empty wooden cotton reels.

I work in a variety of fabrics including wool felt, quilt weight cotton, 'Harris Tweed', and upholstery and bridal remnants.  Grannie taught me never to throw anything away so leftover scraps and snippets are used to create smaller items like glasses/phone cases, tiny tree decorations or are incorporated into textile art pieces.  My branding is based around two of the reels of thread that I inherited from Grannie's workbox, Sylko Blue Violet and Light Grey.

You can find my work for sale in my Folksy shop via the link at the top of the page.  I also undertake commissions for bags, notebooks and keepsake pieces, please contact me via Facebook if you wish to make an enquiry.
